Hotel shuttles at O’Hare collect at the Terminal 2 arrivals curb, and some also stop at Terminal 5, so ask your hotel before you fly. Three hotels list a shuttle that runs 24 hours: Loews Chicago O’Hare and Staybridge Suites in Rosemont, and Sonesta Simply Suites in Schiller Park. The Hilton on the airport grounds needs no shuttle.

Where to find the shuttle

The airport moved every hotel shuttle and off-airport parking pickup from the old Bus Shuttle Center to the arrivals curb at Terminal 2.

If you land at Terminal 1, 3 or 5, the Airport Transit System stops at Terminal 2 and runs 24 hours a day. Virtual Concierge Kiosks on the arrivals level by baggage claim will call a hotel shuttle for you at no charge.

When you’d rather not wait

Ten of the twelve shuttle hotels sit 1.8 to 2.8 miles from Terminal 5 by road, six to eight minutes of driving. Super 8 and Sonesta Chicago O’Hare Airport Rosemont give their distances without saying by road or from which terminal. A 2-mile cab ride to a suburb on the city’s straight-meter list, which includes Rosemont and Des Plaines, works out near $13 on the published meter rates. That’s the $3.25 flag, $0.31 for each further ninth of a mile and the $4 airport departure tax. Surcharges, waiting time and the 50-cent card fee come on top, and our taxi page lists them.

The city charges trips from the airport to most other suburbs at the meter plus one half. The airport’s accessibility page prints the straight-meter list, which includes Elk Grove Village, so a cab to Super 8 runs at the plain meter. Schiller Park isn’t on the list, so ask what the fare will be before you ride to Sonesta Simply Suites. Our taxi page names some of the list’s suburbs, including Rosemont and Des Plaines.

The CTA Blue Line runs 24 hours and costs $5 when you board at O’Hare. Crowne Plaza and La Quinta both sit near a Blue Line station, so the train is the cheaper fallback there if the shuttle isn’t coming.

The avid hotel on East Touhy Avenue and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites on Mannheim Road, both in Des Plaines, list no shuttle at all. The avid hotel is 2.7 miles from Terminal 5 by road, about 7 minutes, and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites is 2.1 miles, about 7 minutes. Plan on a taxi, rideshare or your own car for both.

The hotel you can walk to

The Hilton Chicago O’Hare Airport is the only hotel inside the airport boundary. An underground walkway joins it to Terminals 1, 2 and 3, so you don’t step outside. From Terminal 5, ride the Airport Transit System to the terminal core and pick up the same walkway. It carries on to the Blue Line platform.
