Food at O'Hare late at night

After security, the all-night counters are two Starbucks in Terminal 1, one in Terminal 2, and a Starbucks and a Dunkin’ in Terminal 3. Terminal 5’s only all-night restaurant listing is Baskin Robbins & Dunkin’ at baggage claim, which is before security. After security, the airport’s directory prints the Dunkin’ at Gate M16 as open 12 p.m. to 12 p.m., which doesn’t say whether it runs through the night, so check before you count on it. After 10:30 p.m., no other restaurant listing after security is open. In Terminal 5, one shop, EVOLVE by Hudson at Gate M14, is listed open 24 hours and sells candy and drinks.

Checkpoint closing times

Terminal 5’s Checkpoint 10 never closes. The other terminals shut their last checkpoint between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., and several close much earlier.

The airport says checkpoints are generally open as listed but that day-to-day airport activity can change the hours, and it suggests checking with your airline for the date you fly. It also lists Checkpoint 7’s TSA PreCheck lane as 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., after the checkpoint’s own 8 p.m. close, and doesn’t explain the gap. What’s open all night after security?

Everything here is after security and open 24 hours.

The airport’s directory also lists Farmer’s Fridge as open 24 hours in every terminal, including near Gates M8, M21 and M24 in Terminal 5. The directory gives no menu and doesn’t say which side of security each one is on, but the airport’s terminal map does. It describes them as a fresh and healthy selection of salads, wraps and breakfast choices. Our food directory lists every restaurant by terminal with its hours.

The map also lists vending machines open 24 hours after security:

• Coffee. Starbucks machines near Gate C19 in Terminal 1 and Gate F1 in Terminal 2, and a Mycha machine near Gate G3 in Terminal 3 that sells bubble tea, fruit tea and coffee.
• Drinks and snacks. Canteen machines near Gate E1 in Terminal 2 and near Gate M35 in Terminal 5, and Windy City Mart machines near Gate E1 in Terminal 2 and in Terminal 3.
• Popcorn. Nuts on Clark machines in Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

What’s open late before security?

All five are before security, and two of them are in the Hilton.

Terminals 1 and 3 have no restaurant before security that’s open late. The airport’s terminal map does mark 24-hour Farmer’s Fridge machines before security. They are at Terminal 2’s Door 2A, Terminal 3’s Door 3G and baggage claim, and Terminal 5’s baggage claim. After security, open until 10 p.m. or later

Outside the all-night places, the latest after-security close is Jazz Bar at 10:30 p.m. Everything else here closes at 10 p.m. The Dufry shop at Terminal 5’s Gate M16 closes at 11:30 p.m.

Three Terminal 5 food listings, Tortas Frontera by Rick Bayless, Big Bowl and Tocco, print no hours, so we can’t say whether they’re open late.
