Bars at O'Hare: Goose Island, wine bars and sports bars

O'Hare bars by terminal and gate: three Goose Island spots, two wine bars, Cubs and Blackhawks bars, and the one bar with TVs before security.

Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5 all have bars behind security, from Goose Island and two wine bars to the Cubs and Blackhawks bars. The tables below give each one’s gate and hours. Before security there is one bar in a terminal, in Terminal 2, and the Hilton’s Gaslight Club lists cocktails and spirits.

Is any bar before security?

The Sports Edition Bar is on Terminal 2’s baggage claim level, where claims 20 to 23 are. It opens at 2 p.m., so Terminal 2 has no bar before security in the morning.

Terminal Place Where Hours What the airport’s map says
Terminal 2 Sports Edition Bar Baggage claim level 2 p.m. to midnight “A dozen 50-inch panel HDTVs show all the games simultaneously”
Hilton Gaslight Club Lobby level 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Lists “hearty cocktails” and “single malt scotch, bourbons, wines, port, and cognac”
Terminal 5 The Goddess and Grocer Departures level 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Lists sandwiches, wraps, flatbread pizza, soups, salads and coffee drinks. The map also lists beer, which its text doesn’t mention

Only the Sports Edition Bar is a bar by name. Our Hilton guide covers how to reach the hotel from each terminal.

Bars after security, by terminal

Your gate letter tells you the concourse, so that’s where to start. Every place below is after security and open daily unless a row says otherwise. The airport’s map gives no drink menu and no prices.

Bar Siena’s map entry gives no Tuesday or Wednesday hours. The airport’s directory prints no hours for The Dearborn, so its hours come from the airport’s terminal map. Tocco, an Italian restaurant near Gate M11, is not a bar by name, but its map text lists “handcrafted cocktails” and its keywords include bar, beer and wine. No hours are listed for it.

Some places that aren’t bars first also serve beer or cocktails. All are after security and open daily.

Place Terminal and gate Hours What the airport’s map says
Wicker Park Market Terminal 1, C1 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sushi made to order, and “full bar service is available”
Berghoff Cafe Terminal 1, C26 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Breakfast sandwiches and omelets. The map also lists a bar and beer

Six Points Market Terminal 5, M30 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. A shop in the airport’s Shop directory rather than its Eat directory, whose map text reads “snacks and beverages” and never mentions the beer the map lists

Chili’s has a bar and cocktails in Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and the Restaurants & bars group in our food directory lists the rest with their gates.

Goose Island: which of the three?

Goose Island Beer Company has three locations, two in Terminal 1 and one in Terminal 3. Terminals 2 and 5 don’t have one. The map text for all three says the company brews its own beer “right here in the City” and lists paninis, salads and sandwiches. The text for C10 and L10 adds root beer and says “a full service bar awaits”, and the text for B1 has no bar line. If a seat at a full bar matters, C10 and L10 are the two that promise one.

Two wine bars, and what their map text says

Beaudevin Wine Bar is in Terminal 1 and Bubbles Wine Bar is in Terminal 3.

The map calls Beaudevin “an internationally acclaimed wine bar” with a “wide selection of marques and vintages from around the world”, plus small plates, spirits, beer and specialty coffees. It says Bubbles has tables by the piano and “small plates of cheese or vegetables”. Neither text names a wine, and there’s no price in either.

Cubs and Blackhawks bars, TVs and a view

The Chicago Cubs Bar & Grill is in Terminal 3 near Gate G1, and Stanley’s Blackhawks Kitchen & Tap is in Terminal 2 near Gate E5. No other place in the directory is named for a team.

The Cubs bar’s map text promises “a menu reminiscent of favorites at Wrigley Field, including Vienna Beef Hot Dogs and the Stan Burger”, and adds that “Two full bars offer more than 20 types of beer”. Stanley’s text opens “Pays homage to the local professional hockey team” and says nothing about what it pours.

For TVs, the Sports Edition Bar before security is the one with a number: a dozen. The Rush Street Bar in Terminal 3 has “a full bar with TVs” in its map text, and the map lists TV for Galileo Bar & Grill in Terminal 1, though its text doesn’t mention one. For a view, the Connect Bar’s text promises “amazing airfield views” in Terminal 2, and Hub 51’s text mentions “views from the expansive bar” in Terminal 5.

When the bars close

Jazz Bar in Terminal 1 is the last bar behind security to close. After it does, the only bar with listed hours is the Sports Edition Bar, which stays open past the 11 p.m. closing time of Terminal 2’s Checkpoint 5. Terminal 2’s gates clear security at that checkpoint only. Our late-night food guide covers the all-night places, and the before 6 a.m. guide covers the early counters.

Reaching a bar in another terminal

Terminals 1, 2 and 3 join on the secure side, so a bar in either of the other two is a walk and not a second security line. Our guide to walking between terminals shows how the three connect and notes that the airport publishes no walking times.

Terminal 5 doesn’t have a walking connection to the rest, but it’s got four bars of its own. To reach them from another terminal, ride the Airport Transit System or the terminal transfer bus.
