O’Hare has a Duty Free Store past security in each of Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and Terminal 5 has two Dufry shops in Concourse M.

1 Duty Free Store Concourse B, Gate B9 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily
2 Duty Free Store Concourse F, Gate F5 Daily from 7 a.m. until the last flight, per the airport’s map
3 Duty Free Store Concourse K, Gate K5 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily

What each shop lists

The airport’s map text for all five shops lists international cosmetics, fragrances, liquor, tobacco, confectionery and fashion accessories, all at tax- and duty-free prices. The Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 stores add brand names, among them Gucci, Dior, Chanel, Estee Lauder, Johnnie Walker, Grey Goose and Godiva. The Terminal 1 text names no brands. The map doesn’t say what is in stock, so check at the shop if you want a particular bottle.

Which shops you can reach

Terminals 1, 2 and 3 connect on the secure side by pedestrian walkway, so after one checkpoint you can walk to any of the three Duty Free Stores.

Terminal 5 has no secure-side walkway to the other terminals. Its two Dufry shops sit in Concourse M, past Checkpoint 10, where Terminal 5 passengers clear security.

What to check before you buy

If you land from abroad and connect through O’Hare, the airport’s arrivals steps tell you to pack liquids in checked luggage before a rescreen. They add that a duty free purchase over 3.4 fluid ounces won’t be admitted through the TSA checkpoint unless it’s in a secure, tamper-evident bag that officers can screen and clear.

The airport’s map gives gates and hours but no allowances or prices. U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Clearing Customs page covers what items are dutiable, which agricultural products are allowed or prohibited, and traveler entry forms. Its Know Before You Go section has Shopping Abroad and When You Return pages for returning U.S. citizens.
