PreCheck lane entrance, O'Hare

TSA PreCheck lanes run in all four terminals, though not at every checkpoint. CLEAR Plus lanes sit in Terminals 1, 2 and 5, and Terminal 3 doesn’t list one. In the PreCheck column, None listed means the airport’s own table shows no PreCheck lane at that checkpoint. That table doesn’t cover CLEAR, so in the CLEAR column it means no CLEAR Plus lane is known there.

The airport’s own table says checkpoints are generally open as listed and that daily activity can change the hours, so confirm the day with your airline. Our [security page](https://ordairportguide.com/security/) lists every checkpoint’s published hours.

## Choosing a checkpoint by lane

Terminal 1’s three checkpoints all lead to Concourses B and C, and Terminal 3’s four lead to Concourses G, H, K and L.

For a pre-dawn flight, the earliest PreCheck lanes are Checkpoint 5 in Terminal 2 and Checkpoint 7A in Terminal 3. After the other PreCheck lanes have closed, the table lists one more window, at Checkpoint 7 in Terminal 3. It starts after that checkpoint’s own 8 p.m. close, and the table gives Checkpoint 7 no earlier PreCheck hours.

## Where CLEAR also enrolls you in PreCheck

CLEAR is one of three providers TSA authorizes to enroll people in PreCheck, and that enrollment is separate from the CLEAR Plus lane. At O’Hare, CLEAR enrolls travelers on the Departures level near Checkpoint 3 in Terminal 1, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. It does the same near the Checkpoint 10 entrance in Terminal 5, on the same hours. Terminal 2 doesn’t list a CLEAR enrollment desk.

The airport’s TSA page names no PreCheck enrollment desk of its own. TSA lists CLEAR, IDEMIA and Telos as its enrollment providers, and its PreCheck page sends you to a locator for their enrollment locations.

## What each program costs

TSA says five years of PreCheck cost $85 or less. Its page lists the enrollment providers at $84.95 for CLEAR, $79.75 for IDEMIA and $85.00 for Telos. You then enter your Known Traveler Number in your airline reservation to get PreCheck on the boarding pass. TSA says children 17 and under can join an adult in the PreCheck lane for free.

CBP prices Global Entry at $120 for five years, and its page lists TSA PreCheck access among the benefits. CBP calls it the program for frequent international or business travelers, and it requires a background check and an in-person interview for first-time enrollment. For people who take fewer international flights, CBP suggests PreCheck instead.

CLEAR Plus is a separate membership. After you pre-enroll in PreCheck through CLEAR, TSA’s page shows CLEAR issuing a code to join CLEAR Plus. CLEAR charges $134 for that after a new enrollment and $146 after an online renewal, and its disclaimer says each is the price of CLEAR Plus minus the cost of PreCheck.
