Indoor relief area, O'Hare

Outdoor relief areas sit by a lower-level door at Terminals 1, 2 and 5, and outside Door 6 at the Multi-Modal Facility. The airport lists none outside security at Terminal 3. Past security it lists areas at Terminals 1, 3 and 5, and the Terminal 3 main hall area is closed behind a construction wall.

The airport calls every one of these a [service animal relief area](https://ordairportguide.com/amenities/pet-relief/) and says every animal must be leashed and accompanied by its owner. Its page doesn’t say whether a pet that isn’t a service animal may use them, so ask your airline if that’s your situation. Service animal arrangements go through the airline too.

## Outside security: open at all times

The outdoor areas are gated and fenced, about 16 by 10 feet.

| Where | How to find it |
| --- | --- |
| Terminal 1 | Leave through Lower Level Door 1A, near United baggage claim 15, and turn left. The black fence is about 40 steps away |
| Terminal 2 | Leave through Lower Level Door 2E, near baggage claim 1, and turn right. The fence is about 50 steps away, and its gate is on the far side |
| Terminal 5 | Leave through Lower Level Door 5B, near baggage claim 10. The fence is about 50 steps from the door |
| Multi-Modal Facility | Leave through Door 6 and turn right. The fence is about 50 steps away |
| Terminal 3 | None listed |

From Terminal 3, the Airport Transit System stops at Terminals 1 and 2, which both have outdoor areas.

## Past security: open whenever you’re inside

The indoor areas are about 10 by 8 feet, with a sink, a relief pad, paper towels and a water hose.

| Terminal | Where |
| --- | --- |
| Terminal 1 | Concourse C, on the right wall just past Gate C10, on the hallway toward Gate C12 |
| Terminal 3 | The Rotunda, immediately on the left along the hallway toward Terminal 2, and at Gate L26, at the end of the hall across from the windows |
| Terminal 5, Concourse M | Immediately past Gate M8 on the left, on the way to Gate M7 |
| Terminal 5, Concourse M | In the restroom bank between Gates M25 and M26, across from Butcher and the Burger, through its own entrance |
| Terminal 5, international arrivals | The sterile corridor before the customs area, and the international baggage claim |

The airport lists none inside security at Terminal 2. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 connect on the secure side, so a Terminal 2 passenger can walk to the Terminal 3 Rotunda or to Gate C10 in Terminal 1 without clearing security again. The airport publishes no walking time for either route.
