EV charging, O'Hare garage

[ORD parking cost calculator](https://ordairportguide.com/parking/#stay-cost): 7 days from $112.00 at Economy Lot G. Pick your days and compare every lot.

Every charging station the airport lists is under a roof, and the lowest roof belongs to the Main Garage at 6 feet 6 inches. The airport names stations in three places: Level 1 of the Main Garage, the Terminal 5 garage and Economy Lot F. It names none in the outdoor lots, and that’s where a taller vehicle has room.

## Stations and clearances side by side

The stations are Level II electric vehicle chargers, and “Level” in the table always means a garage floor.

| Where | Stations | Clearance | Parking for 24 hours |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Main Garage hourly, Level 1 | 12, in Aisle 2 near Elevator Center 3 | 6 feet 6 inches | $79 |
| Main Garage daily, Levels 2 to 6 | None listed | 6 feet 6 inches | $43 |
| Economy Lot F, floors 4 and 5 of the Multi-Modal Facility | 24, on Level 4 in Rows G, H, I and J | 8 feet 4 inches | $30 |
| Lot C, outdoors | None listed | 8 feet 5 inches | $43 |
| Terminal 5 garage | 48: 20 on Level 1, 10 on Level 2, 10 on Level 3, 8 on Level 4 | 8 feet 6 inches | $43 |
| Lot B, outdoors | None listed | 9 feet | $43 |
| Lot D, outdoors beside the Terminal 5 garage | None listed | No height limit | $43 |
| Economy Lots G and H, outdoors | None listed | No height limit | $16 |

Lot D shares a rate table with the Terminal 5 garage on the airport’s page. The airport’s economy page gives a clearance for Lot F only, 8 feet 4 inches. Its accessibility page lists no height restriction for the accessible spaces in Lots D, G and H, and 8 feet 2 inches for Lot F’s. A vehicle near 8 feet should plan on the lower number at Lot F.

## Which garage suits an electric car?

The Main Garage stations are on the hourly floor. The airport says hourly parking is for stays under three hours, and 8 to 24 hours costs $79 there against $43 upstairs. That makes Level 1 a place for a short stop, and there’s no station listed on the daily levels.

The Terminal 5 garage has the most stations and spreads them across four levels, and it joins Terminal 5 by an enclosed pedestrian bridge. Lot F costs $30 for 24 hours against $43 at the Terminal 5 garage. The free Airport Transit System takes you to every terminal, and our [Airport Transit System page](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/airport-transit-system/) lists its stations.

The airport’s pages give no charging fee, no connector type and no word on whether a station is free. The Terminal 5 garage’s parking-assist technology shows real-time parking availability, and the airport doesn’t say whether it covers stations. Our [reserved parking page](https://ordairportguide.com/parking/reserved-parking/) lists Level 2 of the Terminal 5 garage, Level 4 of Lot F and Level 4 of the Main Garage. The first two are levels with stations and the airport lists none on the Main Garage’s Level 4, and it doesn’t say a reserved space comes with one.

## Where does a tall vehicle fit?

If you need more height and want to park near the terminals, the airport suggests Lots B and C. Lot B clears 9 feet and Lot C clears 8 feet 5 inches, so a vehicle between those two heights has only Lot B on that side of the airport. Beyond those, Lot D beside Terminal 5 and Lots G and H are outdoors with no height limit, and the airport’s accessibility page lists no height restriction for their accessible spaces.

At Lots G and H you park, ride a shuttle bus to the Multi-Modal Facility and then take the Airport Transit System.

The airport’s two parking pages place Lot H differently. Its economy page puts it at the southeast corner of Mannheim and Zemke Road, and its general parking page at the northeast corner of Bessie Coleman and Coffey Road. The general page says roadway signs guide you to each lot, so follow the Lot H signs.

The two pages also differ on payment. The general page labels Lot H “credit card only.” The economy page says cash and the major cards “are all accepted forms of payment” and doesn’t except Lot H. Plan on a credit card.

## A tall vehicle that needs a charge

A vehicle taller than the Terminal 5 garage’s 8 feet 6 inches won’t fit anywhere the airport lists a station. The Parking Garage Office at (773) 686-7530 is the number the airport gives for vehicle assistance, and it is the place to ask about anything the pages leave out.
