Wyndham Chicago O'Hare, Des Plaines

Three hotels list a shuttle to O’Hare, and two in Des Plaines expect you to find your own ride. The Wyndham and Super 8 shuttles are free. The Sonesta Simply Suites page names its shuttle but no price, so ask when you call. No official O’Hare page lists room rates, so check tonight’s price on each hotel’s own site and use this page to price the ride.

| Hotel | Suburb | Distance | Airport shuttle |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Wyndham Chicago O’Hare | Des Plaines | 2.8 miles, about 8 minutes | Free, no hours listed |
| Sonesta Simply Suites Chicago O’Hare Airport | Schiller Park | 2.7 miles, about 7 minutes | 24 hours a day on request, price not listed |
| Super 8 by Wyndham Chicago O’Hare Airport | Elk Grove Village | 5 miles | Free, early morning until midnight, booked by phone |
| Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chicago O’Hare Airport | Des Plaines | 2.1 miles, about 7 minutes | None listed |
| avid hotel Chicago O’Hare - Des Plaines | Des Plaines | 2.7 miles, about 7 minutes | None listed |

Distances are by road from Terminal 5, except the Super 8’s 5 miles.

## Where the three shuttles pick you up

The airport moved [hotel shuttle pickup](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/hotel-shuttles/) to the Terminal 2 arrivals curb. For the Wyndham, follow the signs to baggage claim at Terminal 2 and step outside to the arrivals curb. Sonesta Simply Suites’ shuttle collects at that same curb. The Super 8’s page doesn’t name its pickup curb, so ask when you phone to book. Virtual concierge kiosks on the arrivals level by baggage claim will call a hotel shuttle for you at no charge.

Some shuttles also serve Terminal 5, so ask the hotel before you fly in there. If yours doesn’t, the free [Airport Transit System](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/airport-transit-system/) reaches Terminal 2.

## What a late landing does to the plan

Sonesta Simply Suites is the only one of the five that lists a round-the-clock shuttle. Call the hotel once you have your bags and it sends the shuttle.

The Super 8 lists its shuttle from early morning until midnight, so a landing after midnight means budgeting for a taxi. The Wyndham gives no shuttle hours at all, which makes a phone call before you fly worth the minute.

In Rosemont, Loews Chicago O’Hare runs a free shuttle 24 hours a day. It comes every fifteen minutes and you don’t book it. Pick-up is the lower level at Terminal 2, in the middle lane near door 2C. Staybridge Suites also runs a free shuttle around the clock, leaving the hotel every half hour. Book it ahead with the hotel, then look for door 2E on the lower level at Terminal 2.

The Hilton Rosemont’s free shuttle stops earlier. It runs 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and until 10 p.m. on weekends.

When no shuttle is running, the train is the fallback. The CTA lists [Blue Line](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/cta-blue-line/) service at all times, every day. The Crowne Plaza in Rosemont calls itself a short walk from the line, and La Quinta’s page says the hotel is by the CTA Blue Line. Neither hotel gives a distance or a time. Boarding at O’Hare costs $5, boarding at any other station costs $2.50, and a 1-day pass at $5 covers the O’Hare boarding.

## Where the taxi fare lands

The Holiday Inn Express and the avid are the two without a shuttle, and Des Plaines is on the city’s straight-meter list. That means the cab charges the meter and nothing extra for the suburb. Use the marked rank at the lower-level curb outside baggage claim, not a driver who offers a ride on the departures level.

The meter starts at $3.25, which covers the first ninth of a mile, then adds $0.31 for each further ninth. That makes about $9 for 2.1 miles and about $10.50 for 2.7. Add the $4 Illinois airport departure tax on every fare leaving the airport and the two rides come to roughly $13 and $14.50.

Waiting time, a $0.50 card fee, a $2.50 rush-hour surcharge from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a $1 overnight surcharge from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. all sit on top. The [taxi page](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/taxi/) lists the full fare schedule.

The city’s rules put most suburbs at the meter plus one half and publish a straight-meter list. Elk Grove Village is on it, so a cab to the Super 8 charges the plain meter. Schiller Park isn’t, so a cab to Sonesta Simply Suites costs the meter plus one half. Rideshare drivers meet you at the numbered poles on the upper level of Terminal 2 (orange, 2A to 2G) or Terminal 3 (green, 3G to 3K), and our [rideshare page](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/rideshare/) explains how to find the pole your driver names.

## The $2 bus along Mannheim Road

Pace Route 330 runs along Mannheim Road and costs $2.00 with a Ventra card, a mobile wallet or a contactless bank card. Pace says it runs daily and the airport says weekdays and Saturdays, so check Pace’s schedule for your day. You board at the Multi-Modal Facility, bays 8 and 9, a free Airport Transit System ride from any terminal. Cash fare is $2.25 with no transfers.

The Holiday Inn Express is at 3001 Mannheim Road and Sonesta Simply Suites at 4021 N. Mannheim Rd. The airport’s route description names no stop at either door, so confirm the nearest stop on [Pace Route 330](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/pace-route-330/) before you count on it.

## When Rosemont or the airport Hilton beats the suburbs

Rosemont’s hotels sit 2.8 miles or less from Terminal 5 by road, no farther out than the Des Plaines hotels. All nine on our [hotels page](https://ordairportguide.com/hotels/) list a free shuttle.

| Hotel | Street | Distance from Terminal 5 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Crowne Plaza Chicago Ohare Hotel & Conf Ctr | River Road | 1.8 miles, about 6 minutes |
| Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago O’Hare Rosemont | River Road | 1.8 miles, about 6 minutes |
| DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago O’Hare Airport - Rosemont | River Road | 1.9 miles, about 6 minutes |
| Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel | River Road | 1.9 miles, about 6 minutes |
| Hilton Rosemont/Chicago O’Hare | River Road | 1.9 miles, about 7 minutes |
| Staybridge Suites Chicago O’Hare Airport | Mannheim Road | 2.0 miles, about 7 minutes |
| La Quinta by Wyndham Chicago O’Hare Airport | Mannheim Road | 2.2 miles, about 7 minutes |
| Hampton Inn & Suites Rosemont Chicago O’Hare | West Higgins Road | 2.8 miles, about 8 minutes |
| Sonesta Chicago O’Hare Airport Rosemont | West Higgins Road | Less than 2 miles |

Sonesta Rosemont lists only “less than 2 miles,” so it could be as close as the River Road hotels.

If you’re driving, the Embassy Suites lists parking at $39 a day and the Hampton Inn & Suites at $27 a day.

The airport’s hotel page lists the Hilton Chicago O’Hare Airport as the on-site hotel, directly across from Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Underground walkways join it to all three, so there’s no transfer to pay for.
