Aeromexico, Volaris and Viva all check in at O’Hare’s Terminal 5, the terminal where flights from abroad clear customs.

## Where each airline checks in

[Aeromexico](https://ordairportguide.com/airlines/aeromexico/), [Volaris](https://ordairportguide.com/airlines/aeromexico/) and [Viva](https://ordairportguide.com/airlines/aeromexico/) all check in on the Departures and Check-In level of [Terminal 5](https://ordairportguide.com/terminals/terminal-5/). Most Terminal 5 counters are common use, so the flight boards show your airline’s counter on the day. Checkpoint 10 is open 24 hours, and Concourse M is behind it.

The airport’s lounge page names none of the three airlines. Three Terminal 5 lounges take SkyTeam or Priority Pass members, so ask your airline whether your fare counts.

| Lounge | Who gets in |
| --- | --- |
| Delta Sky Club | SkyTeam premium cabin customers, and SkyTeam Elite Plus members on a same-day international flight operated by a SkyTeam airline |
| Air France Lounge | SkyTeam Elite Plus members travelling on a SkyTeam airline, and Priority Pass members except from noon to 5 p.m. |
| Wingtips Lounge | SkyTeam Elite Plus members, and Priority Pass members up to 3 hours before departure |

Priority Pass lists the Swissport Lounge as permanently closed, so Priority Pass members use the Air France Lounge or Wingtips. Our [lounges page](https://ordairportguide.com/lounges/) lists every lounge and who gets in.

## Landing: what the airport lists

The airport’s International Traveler page lists the steps for arrivals from abroad in this order.

- Leave the gate and follow the sterile corridors to the CBP Processing Area in Terminal 5.
- Clear primary inspection. Travelers from a country that requires a visa, and first-time ESTA travelers, wait in the immigration line.
- Claim every bag, even one checked through to your last stop.
- Follow the exit to the CBP officer who directs you to the baggage and agriculture inspection.
- Leave, or recheck your bags if you’re connecting.

The page adds that it’s rare for the process to take more than two hours. Luggage porters in white shirts and caps wait in baggage claim and accept tips. Some passengers skip this process. The page says travelers from a number of destinations, including several in Canada and Ireland, preclear in their departure city and may go straight to the domestic baggage claim in Terminal 5. It lists no complete set of those airports, so ask your airline whether your departure city is one of them.

## After customs

Terminal 5’s Arrivals and Baggage Claim level holds the international baggage claim and oversize baggage. Two ATMs sit in baggage claim, and our [currency exchange guide](https://ordairportguide.com/guides/currency-exchange-atms-at-ohare/) lists the exchange counters.

The airport’s page names taxicabs, shuttles and the Airport Transit System as the ways out of Terminal 5. The [Airport Transit System](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/airport-transit-system/) is free, and for the [CTA Blue Line](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/cta-blue-line/) you ride it to Terminal 2 or 3 first. Our [Blue Line guide](https://ordairportguide.com/guides/how-ride-cta-blue-line-from-ohare/) covers the fares and the ride downtown, and the [taxi page](https://ordairportguide.com/transport/taxi/) has the cab fares.

If someone is collecting you, pickup is at the outermost curb on the lower Arrivals level. Waiting at the curb isn’t allowed, so your driver should wait in the free cell phone lot until you call. Our [pickup and drop-off guide](https://ordairportguide.com/guides/dropping-off-picking-up-at-ohare-curbs-rules-cell-phone-lot/) covers the curbs and the cell phone lot.

## Connecting on from Terminal 5

Bags checked through to your final stop go to the recheck counters directly outside the customs area. If your bags aren’t checked through, the choice depends on the next airline. A United or American connection can recheck right after customs, and any other airline means carrying the bags out of Terminal 5 to recheck with that airline. Our [international connection guide](https://ordairportguide.com/guides/connecting-from-international-flight-at-ohare-steps-order/) gives the onward steps in order.
