Updated November 1, 2026

More in our guide: [Where can you smoke at O'Hare?](https://ordairportguide.com/guides/where-can-you-smoke-at-ohare/).

## Smoking areas

- **Where:**
  - Terminal 1, Departures and Check-In level: five marked areas
  - Terminal 2: one at the curb outside the Departures and Check-In level, two at the curb outside baggage claim
  - Terminal 3: seven at the curb outside the Departures and Check-In level, three at the curb outside baggage claim
- **Details:** Every marked smoking area is outside the terminal and before security, so leaving one means clearing a checkpoint again. Terminal 5 has none marked. The City of Chicago's Clean Indoor Air Ordinance bans smoking of any kind, vaping included, inside the terminals, and marijuana may not be smoked anywhere on airport property.
